The Latest: Vince McMahon Sex and Hush Money Scandal

Recent allegations involving WWE CEO and Chairman have surfaced involving an alleged agreement for an employee to keep quiet following a sexual encounter with the boss.

On June 15th, 2022 Wall Street Journal reported that WWE Chairman Vince McMahon had allegedly paid 3 Million dollars in a Nondisclouse agreement to a former WWE paralegal with the intention of keeping her quiet involving a consensual sexual relationship with McMahon. The WWE board began investigating the matter as well as others involving similar payments and misconduct as well as John Laurentius who has since stepped down as Head of WWE Talent Relations. Laurentius was said to have also had sexual relations with the same paralegal as McMahon. The WWE Board was informed of these actions via an anonymous email from someone claiming to be a friend of the paralegal in question. She describes the woman was initially hired on a $100,000 salary which was increased later to $200,000 after beginning a sexual relationship with McMahon. A Settlement agreement including an NDA stated the paralegal would receive 1 Million dollars upfront upon her departure to keep quiet on the matter with an additional $2 Million to be paid out over the next 5 years. Upon the news of the investigation breaking McMahon stepped down as CEO of WWE, a role that was filled by his daughter Stephanie McMahon.

On July 8th WSJ once again reported on the ongoing Vince McMahon investigation claiming he had, “Agreed to Pay $12 Million in Hush Money to Four Women”. One of these reports involves a former, unnamed, female wrestler who was persuaded into giving the Chairman oral sex before being moved down the card and eventually released upon refusal of sexual activities in 2008, in 2018 she was paid $7.5 Million to remain quiet on the subject according to Jude Terror. Another report of unsolicited nude photos of McMahon alongside sexual harassment came from a contractor in 2008 who was allegedly paid 1 million dollars in response. In a third instance, McMahon paid another $1 Million to a long-time personal manager he had engaged in a sexual relationship with.

As the investigation of Vince McMahon continues, stories of Nondisclosure agreements and sexual assault allegations are still being reviewed by The WWE Board of Directors.

CBW’s Along For The Ride

No stranger to CBW’s Independent Spotlight, Gavin Michaels brings his newest EP, Along for The Ride, to The Rock Revival IN PERSON this Friday, June 17th.

Gavin Michaels will join Radio’s Rebel DJ, Style during The Rock Revival 6/17/22 show to debut his newest EP for the first time on-air. Gavin will be playing the absolute best variety the internet has to offer alongside Style and will be featured during the 2:15pm showcase time. When asked to give some insight about Along for The Ride and the tracks featured on it, Gavin had this to offer;

“Aesthetic Cigarette is about falling in love with the idea of someone, only to wake up one day and realize they’re a complicated, living, breathing human, and not some idealized version you made in your mind.

Teenagers vol 2. (1979-2K79) is a song that I wish was about me. I wasn’t exactly a rebel kid, even if I wanted to be. I got really good grades, was overly polite, and I dared not change my hair-style too much lest it make my parents mad. When I discovered punk music though, it was all about identity and saying screw you, I am who I want to be. That punk spirit has always been inside of teenagers. And you hear it in the music today, you hear it in the Ramones, and you hear it in Shakespeare. Well, this was a song to kind of honor the spirit of the teenager inside of me – even if he didn’t smoke cigarettes and drop acid all the time.

Along for the Ride started as a parody of the My Chemical Romance Song “I’m Not Okay” (Hence the Chorus: “I’m afraid that I’m okay, what will I do if I’m not emo anymore?”) As I was working on the song, I was on the upswing from a serious period of depression in my life, and it was a very real fear of mine that I wouldn’t be able to access that sort of dark place that I went to for inspiration. The song personifies my depression as another sort of love-hate relationship where I won’t let myself fall back into the pit of depression entirely, but won’t let myself be free of it either.

I’m constantly messing up in my life. I’m only at the very begging of a long journey of maturing. I think these songs more than anything are reflections of different levels of maturity in my life – experiences I had to grow from – whether as a teenager, young adult, or man. In the future… We’ll have to see. There’s so much I want to explore. But you can bet that it will be full of all of my passion, groove, and love.”

-Gavin Michaels

Tune in and hear Along for The Ride Live on-air along with the man himself this Friday June 17th starting at 12pm eastern. Listen all over the world and wherever you are by downloading the free Live365 app and typing in CBW Radio!

Meet Year Of October

Year of October is an on-the-rise independent band based out of Nashville that has heavily featured on CBW Radio over the past three weeks, but who exactly are they?

Introduced to CBW Radio via the Independent Spotlight during The Rock Revival, Year of October has quickly become a fan favorite amongst listeners of the station. Capturing both a classic rock and modern sound, Year of October’s featured tracks off of Wastelands have found a home on Fridays as well as regular CBW Programing. Upon reaching out to the band, I was able to secure further information about this incredible act and just who they are.

Who is Year of October?

Year of October is Phlecia Sullivan, Josh Sullivan, and James Varner.” The band was formed by Phlecia and Josh While attending the University of Kentucky in 2010. The name comes from “When Phlecia and I (Josh) first started playing music… I was playing acoustic guitar and she was singing and it had a campfire music kind of vibe. Phlecia came up with the name based on that feeling of fall.”

How would you describe your sound?

“We’d describe our sound as fuzz, rock, soul. I would say that our music combines rock, soul, and blues; We’ve put out 4 records now and each record has continued to change and evolve (our sound)”

Who have been your biggest influences?

“We like a lot of different music, Some of our favorites include Led Zeppelin, The Beatles, Amy Winehouse, Black Sabbath, Jack White, Dead Weather, Otis Redding, Sam Cooke, The Budos Band, and Charles Bradley.”

Year of October can be heard regularly on CBW Radio where Josh describes, “It’s definitely an honor for us to be showcased… It’s an awesome station and we are truly very thankful.” As well as on any major streaming service such as Spotify or iTunes.

You can also catch Year of October live in Nashville, TN at Drifter’s BBQ on May 14th as well as Kimbro’s in Franklin, TN on May 25th!

Gavin Michaels Comes to CBW Radio

On Friday 04/29/22 during The Rock Revival, The CBW local music spotlight will be on Gavin Michaels

CBW Radio has begun heavily showcasing local and independent musicians during The Rock Revival show hosted by Style. In recent weeks we’ve heard the music of bands such as Year of October as well as Jet Star, the latter of whom appeared in person during last weeks Rock Revival to talk about some of her favorite music and newest album! This week CBW Radio will showcase the music of Gavin Michaels, a newcomer to the Cleveland music scene but not to THE music scene. If you find yourself asking, just who is Gavin Michaels, we’ve got you covered!

Gavin Michaels, “was born in the pouring rains of Seattle WA, and recently moved to the equally dreary Cleveland OH to bring his signature flavor of emo/pop-punk to the Midwest.” In his own words.

Heavily inspired by the Punk Rock scene, Gavin strives to create shows that are exciting, engaging, and reflect the uniqueness of every particular audience.

Gavin details his days in the Seattle Music Scene below

“In college, I tore up the Seattle music scene with several pop-punk bands, and grew significantly as an artist. When 2020 hit, I took that time to focus inward, and developed my own music. What initially started as indie-acoustic venture, (A Song for the Insecure) eventually grew into to lofi-pop EP (Butterflies), and finally to the powerful pop-rock single Goodnight Seattle! With the return of live music in 2022, I’m focused on making music that’s not only a good listen, but meant to be experienced.”

Gavin Michaels new EP, Along for the Ride, drops May 27th and features three tracks that, “lie somewhere between The Killers, Panic! at the Disco and Green Day.” The EP is set to explore identity, anxiety, and the never-ending struggle to grow as a person.

Look for Gavin Michaels on Spotify and YouTube and catch his music played live on CBW Radio! Gavin’s song Goodnight Seattle! Debuts on air Friday during The Rock Revival at 2:15pm eastern!

Who Is Jet Star

This Friday afternoon, 04/22/22, local Cleveland musician Jet Star will appear on CBW Radio’s Rock Revival show, But who exactly is Jet Star?

CBW Radio prides itself on being The Last Station You’ll Ever Need, Providing the best variety of music you can find anywhere online. Spanning all decades as well as all genres, one of the most important genres of music when it comes to Radio Resurrected is Independent and Local music. Always an honor and a privilege CBW brings to you some of the absolute best around. As previously showcased with local Akron band, The Breezeway, CBW will be adding Cleveland native, Jet Star, to their regular rotation! But who exactly is Jet Star, The following is a short interview conducted via SMS to help answer just that question!

How would you describe your sound?

“I’d like to call what I do space funk, but I really enjoy working in multiple genres. Maybe jazzy synthetic space funk? I like to work in one genre but include elements and staples of others. I like to make very odd or less familiar Melodie’s, and I “Manually” Dj. I use my vocals as an instrument as well, and I was in several different choirs throughout high school, so layering vocals and building a choir of my own voice is common in my music.”

She continues,

“I also have synesthesia so I like to work in colors. I’ve been producing for a very long time, and since I started I’ve been making collections of colors and how they sound to me. I prefer to produce my music so that it’s an experience in its entirety. Something immersive.”

Who are your musical influences?

“Grimes, Marc Rebillet, Filler, Saint Motel, and Caravan Palace. I was raised on a lot of jazz but a lot of what I make now is the result of overindulging in these particular favorites.”

Where does the name “Jet Star” come from?

“My old fried ace started calling me jet in 2019, then Jet star. One of My favorite movies is Tank Girl, she’s one of the characters. I always went by fake names growing up, but Jet has stuck. I feel like it fits me better than anything, honestly, it’s the only name I’ll respond to right away. Thanks, Ace boogie!”

How did Planetary Gore come to be?

“I have a r i d i c u l o u s amount of music, and this particular album has gone through many different transformations over the past two years. It was ready in 2020, then I made stuff I liked better, and then it happened again, and again. This year I narrowed it down from 32 songs to the 12  you hear now. Only five of them were absolutes, the other seven just stuck and were work-in-progress acoustics. None of the songs from the original three versions of this album actually made it into this collection, but that’s not a bad thing.
I wanted Planetary Gore to be an ALBUM. Like a mosaic, meant to be heard in that order. I feel like there’s a very good balance to it, and I’m very happy with the result.

Fun fact- the original title for this album was QUARANTUNES. “

Jet Star will join me this Friday, 4/22/22, During The Rock Revival on CBW Radio to showcase some of her music featured on Planetary Gore, as well as play all of your requests! Be sure to keep up to date and follow Jet Star on Instagram as well as CBW to keep your finger on the pulse of the next up and coming musicians!

THE GOO

In the evening while at the laundromat I found myself in a predicament. I had a pocket full of quarters and a hankering for a delicious treat, but to my surprise  all the candy machines were empty… all but one.

Upon further inspection of this specific machine I noticed that this was not a candy I could buy but instead a sticky mound I liked to call Goo. This gelatinous mess seemed to be the byproduct of really old melted candy and an ill maintained laundromat but nevertheless I grew fond of the Goo.

As weeks passed I’d visit the Goo and was in awe of its progression, it never got bigger or more disgusting, it just seemed to solidify more and more over time. The Goo gained a following over time as well it became very famous on several social media platforms, everyone was overjoyed that the Goo was sticking around.

After a couple of months of this red Goo being the only thing in these candy machines I figured the Goo would never go away. It was reliable, but one sad night I found myself at the laundromat and as I went to check on my old friend the Goo was nowhere to be found, in its place SKITTLES!! I wouldn’t think it’s odd if they had filled the rest of the candy machines as well, however the only machine that has candy in it used to hold the Goo.

It’s my belief that the Goo is still there hiding just beneath the skittles which means two possible outcomes: one the skittles add to the Goo with the impending summer heat that’s coming our way or two enough people use their quarters to buy the skittles and uncover the illustrious Goo.

I know I’m romanticizing melted candy but it was a friend and I will always cherish the time we had together and I hope to see the Goo return in all its glory someday until then farewell old friend.

Microsoft Talks Fallout New Vegas 2

Now that Bethesda has been obtained in Microsoft’s most recent purchases, there have been mumblings of Fallout New Vegas 2 finally becoming a reality.

It’s been quite some time since we discussed the possibilities for a follow-up title to the prominent Fallout New Vegas. However, now it would appear creators under the Microsoft umbrella are ready to do the same!

As reported by VGC, Venturebeat’s own Jeff Grubb discussed the possibility of a new Obsidian crated Fallout now that they are under the same parent company of Microsoft.

Grubb is quoted as saying, ““This is very early, but people have begun to have talks and say these words in sentences, and those words are ‘Obsidian’ and ‘New Vegas 2’.”

While Grubb would go on to explain this project wouldn’t be in the near future, there is at least interest in the idea of it. Interest has been heavily expressed in the past not only by the community but by Obsidian CEO Feargus Urquhart who views the opportunity like the original Fallout series, the games would be closely related in a relative proximity while still telling different stores.

While the answer to a New Vegas sequel is still largely up in the air, we are definitely closer than we’ve ever been to the reality of it. We anticipate more updates and news regarding the Fallout series under the new umbrella of Microsoft.

President Biden Signs New National Holiday Bill: Tuesday Feb. 22

Tuesday February 22nd becomes new National Holiday after bill signing goes wrong.

Tuesday February 22nd, or “TwosDay” as folks around the Internet have begun to call it do to its numerical pattern of 2/22/22, has officially become its own national holiday. The holiday however will not take up the “TwosDay” mantle but rather “Goof Day”.

The term Goof Day is typically used to describe a day of relaxation, fun, and “Goofing off”. The reason behind the selection of this name actually comes from an error that occurred during President Joe Biden’s recent signing of bill 2112 section 6 into law. The proposed bill would create stricter qualifications and a more thorough screening process for the approval of government aid programs like WICK. During the public signing however, President Biden was momentarily distracted by the attending press and actually signed Bill 2112 section 9 into law. This section of the bill was proposed by A member of the US Armed Forces, Leif Cassidy, and would officially recognize February 22nd as a National Holliday.

GoofDay as it is now being called will see the closures of Schools, Government Buildings, and all jobs not directly serving state administration. Banks however, will remain open. The bill claims the reason for this is due to, “people need a little extra dough to goof off now and days.”

Goof Day is quickly being used as a way to market Black Friday like sales, and cyber stores like the StyleRebelRadio.com Shop are already offering promotions up to 15% off with promo code “Goof”.

There is no current plan to reverse the ruling of this bill. We will continue to follow this story as it progresses.
