CBW: Radio for Daze

The Daze joins the CBW Radio lineup this Friday on The Rock Revival.

The Daze are an up-and-coming local band from the outskirts of Cleveland who will make their radio debut this Friday, November 11th, 2022, during Style’s Rock Revival show on CBW Radio. The boys will be featured at 2:15pm eastern as this week’s Independent Spotlight showcasing their single Red Mark. Style got in touch with Eddie and RJ of The Daze to give a little more insight behind the band.

Who are The Daze?

When did The Daze come about and who are the members?

“The Daze was formed in mid-2020 during the pandemic by a group of high school friends.
The current lineup consists of Eddie Grier on Vocals and Guitar, RJ Beall on Guitar and
Bass, and Basil Johnson on drums.”

How would you describe your sound?

“Our sound is a mix of Alternative Rock, Garage Rock with hints of Indie and punk.”

Who have been your biggest influences thus far?

“We are big fans of the grunge scene, bands like Alice In Chains and Nirvana, but also dig
the bands that expanded their sound in drop tuning like Helmet and Silverchair, and the
bands that added more catchy hooks like Oasis and The Vines.”

What went into writing Red Mark?

(Eddie) “Well, it’s the first song I ever wrote intended for a band to play. I was really into the
whole Garage Rock genre of the early 2000’s and tried to write something like The White Stripes or The Hives or The Vines. It’s a quick, catchy little tune that I thought would
be perfect to drop as a single.”

What does it mean to be showcased on CBW Radio?

(RJ) “It means a lot, for sure. This is our first time being showcased on a station, and it
shows that our hard work is paying off not only in writing and recording, but playing live and
spreading the word of The Daze.”
(Eddie) “We’ve had these songs (and a lot more) brewing for a while. So to see it released
for anyone to listen to is really cool. And to watch these songs being picked up and
shared really helps us keep pushing.”

Where else can we find your music?

“You can find our Red Mark EP on any and all streaming platforms. This includes Spotify,
Apple Music, YouTube, Amazon Music, Tiktok I think, and more!
You can watch the music video for Red Mark on our channel as well.”

What’s next for The Daze?

“This year will be our 2nd time competing in the annual TRi-C High School Rock Off at the
Rock & Roll Hall of Fame in February. We teamed up with Eleventh Records out of
Cleveland to re-issue our EP on CD so we’ll have physical copies to sell soon as well. On
top of that, we are currently recording our debut album which is set to release in early 2023.

We plan on playing more shows and you can come to see us on December 9th at the Outpost in Kent, Ohio. All proceeds of that show are being donated to Toys 4 Totz.

Be sure to catch The Daze this Friday on The Rock Revival as well as going forward on CBW Radio!

AIP: A Podcast Made by Artificial Intelligence

The AIP, or Artificial Intelligence Podcast will be debuting tomorrow on StylesRebelRadio.com

The Artificial Intelligence Podcast is a creation of radio’s Rebel DJ, Style himself. The podcast is a monthly show comprised with the goal of having every aspect of it made by AI. Meet Year Of October

Year of October is an on-the-rise independent band based out of Nashville that has heavily featured on CBW Radio over the past three weeks, but who exactly are they?

Introduced to CBW Radio via the Independent Spotlight during The Rock Revival, Year of October has quickly become a fan favorite amongst listeners of the station. Capturing both a classic rock and modern sound, Year of October’s featured tracks off of Wastelands have found a home on Fridays as well as regular CBW Programing. Upon reaching out to the band, I was able to secure further information about this incredible act and just who they are.

Who is Year of October?

Year of October is Phlecia Sullivan, Josh Sullivan, and James Varner.” The band was formed by Phlecia and Josh While attending the University of Kentucky in 2010. The name comes from “When Phlecia and I (Josh) first started playing music… I was playing acoustic guitar and she was singing and it had a campfire music kind of vibe. Phlecia came up with the name based on that feeling of fall.”

How would you describe your sound?

“We’d describe our sound as fuzz, rock, soul. I would say that our music combines rock, soul, and blues; We’ve put out 4 records now and each record has continued to change and evolve (our sound)”

Who have been your biggest influences?

“We like a lot of different music, Some of our favorites include Led Zeppelin, The Beatles, Amy Winehouse, Black Sabbath, Jack White, Dead Weather, Otis Redding, Sam Cooke, The Budos Band, and Charles Bradley.”

Year of October can be heard regularly on CBW Radio where Josh describes, “It’s definitely an honor for us to be showcased… It’s an awesome station and we are truly very thankful.” As well as on any major streaming service such as Spotify or iTunes.

Grey’s Anatomy Quotes That Never Get Old

If we’ve learned anything after watching 16 full seasons of Grey’s Anatomy,  it’s that the surgeons at Grey Sloan Memorial Hospital have a way with words. Whether you’re in the midst of heartbreak or in need of a pep talk, take a look at these quotes that touch on love, loss, friendship, and the stress of everyday life. (And if you’re a true fan, challenge yourself by figuring out which episode each quote is from … before binge-watching the series for the hundredth time to confirm your answers.)

Cristina Yang

Don’t let what he wants eclipse what you need. He’s very dreamy, but he’s not the sun. You are.

Meredith Grey

I love you, in a really really big, pretend to like your taste in music, let you eat the last piece of cheesecake, hold a radio over my head outside your window, unfortunate way that makes me hate you, love you. So pick me, choose me, love me.

Amelia Shepherd

And if you can’t do it, if you aren’t willing to keep looking for light in the darkest of places without stopping, even when it seems impossible, you will never succeed.

Cristina Yang

Oh screw beautiful! I’m brilliant! If you want to appease me, compliment my brain.

Derek Shepherd

You were like coming up for fresh air. It’s like I was drowning and you saved me.

Owen Hunt

The only time I don’t feel like a ghost is when you look at me, because when you look at me, you see me. You see me. This is me.

Meredith Grey

There’s an end to every storm. Once all the trees have been uprooted. Once all the houses have been ripped apart. The wind will hush, the clouds will part, the rain will stop, the sky will clear in an instant. But only then, in those quiet moments after the storm, do we learn who was strong enough to survive it.

Richard Webber

It’s good to be scared. It means you still have something to lose.

Meredith Grey

As human beings, sometimes it’s better to stay in the dark, because in the dark there may be fear, but there is also hope.

Cristina Yang

You are my person. You will always be my person.

Alex Karev

It doesn’t matter how tough we are. Trauma always leaves a scar. It follows us home, it changes our lives. Trauma messes everybody up. But maybe that’s the point. All the pain and the fear and the crap. Maybe going through all that is what keeps us moving forward. It’s what pushes us. Maybe we have to get a little messed up, before we can step up.

Callie Torres

Please, don’t chase me anymore, unless you’re ready to catch me.

Meredith Grey

Change … we don’t like it, we fear it. But we can’t stop it from coming. We either adapt to change, or we get left behind. It hurts to grow. Anybody who tells you it doesn’t, is lying. But here’s the truth: Sometimes, the more things change, the more they stay the same. And sometimes, oh, sometimes, change is good. Sometimes, change is … everything

Derek Shepherd

Breakthroughs don’t happen because of the medicine. Real breakthroughs happen because someone is scared to death to stop trying.

Meredith Grey

Not all wounds are superficial. Most wounds run deeper than we can imagine. You can’t see them with the naked eye. And then, there are the wounds that take us by surprise. The trick with any kind of wound or disease, is to dig down and find the real source of the injury. And once you’ve found it … try like hell to heal that sucker.
